Elizabeth Borrelli

Elizabeth Borrelli  has more than 20 years of experience focused on reputation, issues and crisis management.  

 In 2010 she joined Pfizer, the world’s largest research-based pharmaceutical company, as Senior Director, Global Issues and Reputation Lead in Primary Care Business Unit Communications. She serves as a senior and strategic reputation and issues management counselor while driving the development and implementation of leadership and external communications for medicines and therapeutic platforms on a global level. This includes mobilizing and managing cross-functional communications strategy teams, driving the development and implementation of internal and external global/issues/reputation communications plans and promoting more proactive issues management.

 Prior to joining Pfizer, in response to highly publicized toy safety recalls, Betsy rejoined the Toy Industry Association in 2008 as Executive Director of a developing initiative to track and enhance confidence that toys sold in the U.S. market are safe. This included close collaboration with stakeholders including regulators, consumer advocacy groups, industry and the association’s Board of Directors. Before that, she managed a team overseeing issues management at Washington Mutual, one of the nation’s leading consumer and small business banks.  This involved collaboration with and strategic communications for key internal clients including Government & Industry Relations, Community & External Affairs, Regulatory Relations, Investor Relations, Legal, and business lines.  Betsy was with Eddie Bauer from 1998 to 2006, where she led Public Affairs and Corporate Social Responsibility. During that time she developed and directed the retailer’s global compliance program to improve conditions for factory workers making the company’s products, developed and implemented Eddie Bauer’s response to activist campaigns and served on the Board of the Fair Labor Association.  Her previous time at the now Toy Industry Association was as Director of Standards and Regulatory Affairs, where she was involved in policy development, standards setting, advocacy, coalition building and regulatory relations regarding product safety, responsible marketing practices and other industry issues. Her earlier career focused on public relations and public affairs at agencies including the health and medical unit of Ogilvy & Mather Public Relations.
