Sylvia Williams was appointed Head of Global Issues for Shell International in February 2010. Williams co-ordinates and briefs the Directors on Group issues, manages Group reputation and provides guidance to issues managers across Shell. She also provides leadership on the Group Issues Identification & Management process.
Prior to this position, Williams was General Manager, Business Development for Future Fuels & CO2 managing relationships with key international organizations and foundations focusing on the challenges of climate change and sustainable mobility.
Since joining Shell with a degree in biochemistry, Williams has been responsible for activities as diverse as scenario planning, regulatory affairs, marketing, business development and infrastructure investment. In 2000, she was appointed Head of External Affairs for Shell’s Gas & Power business with responsibility for all communications and issue management. In 2004, as Business Relations Manager, she co-ordinated and implemented a communications and engagement strategy for the company’s GTL business.
