Erin Moos is the Senior Director, Reputation Management, at Target Corporation. In this role, she leads the company’s efforts around Reputation & Risk, issues management, escalated risk events and crisis management. She leads these cross-functional initiatives to anticipate, prepare for, respond to and recover from reputation issues, incidents and crises. Moos previously developed and led the Enterprise Risk program at Target, as well as held positions on Target’s communications team.

Before coming to Target, Moos worked in government and politics, serving as the Director of Communications and Appropriations for former U.S. Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH) for nearly a decade in Washington, D.C., and working in leadership positions on several political campaigns.

Moos holds a master’s degree in liberal studies with a focus in public policy from Georgetown University, a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College, and completed the Humphrey Policy Fellows program at the University of Minnesota.

Teresa Yancey Crane is a recognized expert on Issue Management, having contributed directly to refining the disciplines of the field and cataloguing its advancement since its beginning in 1976.

Crane currently serves as President of the Issue Management Council, a non-profit membership organization she founded in 1988, as a global center of excellence and learning for Issue Management practitioners. She also leads Issue Action Publications, which she launched in 1982, to create a desktop-body of literature to support the development of Issue Management as a distinct discipline. IAP’s flagship newsletter is Corporate Public Issues and Their Management, still edited by Crane since she began writing for the publication in 1979.

Her introduction to the field began in 1977 when she was an instrumental part of the team that worked with Howard Chase to create the original Issue Management Process Model. In 2010, she launched Issue Management Innovators as a resource for training and consulting advice to help clients create effective IM processes and tools.

Crane has a liberal arts education, with B.A. in Economics (manga cum laude) from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College. Hobbies include travel (marking visits to 61 countries and counting), beekeeping and other interactions with the natural world, the arts (they can save our souls!) and flying small airplanes.

Crane was recognized for her organizational excellence in issue management and awarded the Howard Chase Award 2023 for Lifetime Achievement in Issue Management.

Lee Henderson (he/him) is the vice president of crisis communication and social media intelligence for U.S. Bank, the fifth-largest commercial bank in the United States. There, he serves as a key crisis response leader while, separately, overseeing the company’s social listening and analytics function to identify and manage organizational risk and improve business line decision-making.

Prior to U.S. Bank, Lee led entertainment, electronics and toy division publicity for Target Corporation, and managed internal and external communications for the company’s corporate social responsibility, sports marketing and customer loyalty programs. Notably, he oversaw multiple record-breaking music partnerships, supported national sports marketing integrations with NASCAR and Major League Soccer, and created a company-first, content-driven influencer program for C9 by Champion, Target’s legacy billion-dollar activewear brand.

He also previously served as the associate director of communications for the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, managed consumer and tourism industry communications for the Minneapolis Convention and Visitors Bureau, and was a tour publicist for “Sesame Street Live” and several other family entertainment brands.

Lee holds a master’s degree in Business Communications from the Opus College of Business at the University of St. Thomas and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications-Theater and Arts Management from Saint Olaf College. Paul Murphy-Spooner directs public relations strategy, issues/crisis management and communications compliance for United Soybean Board (USB). Representing the nation’s half-million U.S. soybean farmers, USB invests in research, education and promotion of U.S. Soy with the vision to deliver sustainable solutions to every life, every day. Paul has also served in communications roles at U.S. Farmers & Ranchers In Action, FleishmanHillard and Osborn Barr Paramore. He currently serves on the Issue Management Council board of directors on the membership committee. He is a past president of the Public Relations Society of America St. Louis Chapter and former board member of the National Association of Farm Broadcasting, representing the Allied Industry Council. Paul is an alumnus of The University of Iowa with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Journalism and Communication Studies.

Natalia Cieslik heads the Global Corporate Risk and Issues Management Team at the World Bank Group. She leads a small team that is tasked with actively managing significant risks and issues as well as creating an institution-wide approach to issue and reputations risk identification and management.

Cieslik was previously an advisor to the managing director of the World Bank Group after leading its broadcast and multimedia team. She came to the World Bank Group after working for international development NGOs. Before that she was a broadcast journalist. Her extensive experience in development, communications and journalism comes from working in places such as Afghanistan, Myanmar, Sudan, Somalia, Rwanda, South Africa, Iran and Iraq.

Lisa Carr leads the Reputation, Issues and Crisis Communications team at USAA. Carr and her team are responsible for managing programs and processes designed to protect USAA’s reputation by anticipating and mitigating issues, planning and responding to crises, and inspiring trust with internal and external stakeholders. Carr oversees communications support for USAA’s Chief Legal and Risk Offices. Joining USAA’s marketing organization in 1998, Carr has managed a variety of marketing and communications transformations including high-net worth targeting, shifting to digital channels and targeting by member segment. In 2006, she took a role in Corporate Communications and has since led communications for USAA Bank during the banking and housing crisis and employee communications during the last CEO transition.

Carr has more than 25 years of experience in communications and marketing. Prior to joining USAA, she managed a commercial photography studio in San Francisco and served as a marketing professional for The Gambrinus Company and Columbia Industries, both in San Antonio. Carr graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a bachelor’s degree in advertising.

Jenna Reck is Vice President of Enterprise Communications at Thrivent, a Fortune 500 diversified financial services organization.

Jenna is responsible for developing and executing Thrivent’s enterprise communications strategies. In her role, she leads a team of corporate communications professionals and supports the overall growth and transformation of the company. This includes efforts focused on executive positioning and thought leadership, reputation management, crisis management, as well as employee, business and transformation communications.

Prior to joining Thrivent in 2022, Jenna was senior communications director at Target, where she led the retailer’s crisis communications function and oversaw communications strategies for human resources and employment brand, DEI and social justice. Jenna spent more than 15 years at Target leading communications efforts around Target’s business, reputation and product work, with a focus on communication with Target team members, the media and other critical stakeholders. 

Jenna received her Bachelor of Arts from Hamline University in St. Paul, MN, and earned an MBA from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. 

Steven R. Thai is a communications leader with extensive experience across the private and public sectors. Currently, he is the Head of Global Crisis Communications and Reputation Management at Palo Alto Networks, where he oversees global strategies to protect the company's reputation.

 

He is also a board member of the Issue Management Council, promoting best practices in crisis and reputation management. Prior to Palo Alto Networks, Steven was the Global Crisis and Issues Communications Leader at Cargill, enhancing global brand visibility and stakeholder engagement.

 

His earlier roles include overseeing corporate communications at Uponor North America and serving as Public Relations Manager at Deloitte Services L.P., where he supported high-level marketing initiatives. Steven began his career in public service, serving as a spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Energy during the Obama Administration and working for Congressman Keith Ellison.

 

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Luther College and an MBA in Marketing Leadership from Hamline University. In his free time, Steven teaches yoga, explores restaurants with his partner Patrick, and competes in bocce ball.

Born and raised in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Steven now resides in Suburban Minneapolis with his partner, four stepchildren, and their Siberian Husky, Arya.
